The Ghana Cocoa Trail

A journey full of discoveries including the role played by the cocoa seed in Ghana economy.

Set off for the Eastern Region on the Cocoa trail. Visit the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana initially established to investigate problems of pest and diseases for a guided tour through the range of laboratories experimental cocoa farms.

Stopover at the Aburi Botanical Gardens which offers a rich collection of tropical flora.

After lunch at the Gardens, we visit the Tetteh Quarshie farm in Mampong. This experimental farm from 1878 was the main force behind Ghana becoming the number producer of Cocoa.

Also visit the Center for Scientific Research into Plant Medicine.

Return to Accra in the late afternoon.
