Eco-Adventure Tour

Experience the real Ghana learn about our cultures, traditions, etc. in the same breath protecting the natural environment and the living standards by reducing poverty through job creation.

Day 1

Accra

Upon arrival at the Kotoka International Airport, a representative from meets group for hotel transfer. There will be a tour briefing over a welcome dinner.

Spend the night at a family run guest house in Accra.

Day 2

Akosombo

Set off from Accra to the Aburi Botanical Gardens, which offers a rich collection of tropical flora. Not far from the gardens are craftsmen who use wood and leather to create art unique to Ghana. Continue from there to the bead market and factory in Agomanya before descending the mountains into Akosombo.

Spend the night at a riverside resort in Akosombo.

Day 3

Volta Region

Set off for the Volta region to the village of Liate Wote, its eco-friendly farms, trek through villages whilst interacting with locals. Continue through the mountain rainforest to the Tagbo falls and Mount Afadjato.

In the late afternoon, we visit to the Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary, where monkeys live in complete harmony with the residents. Participate in cultural performances in the evening.

Spend the night with a host family at a village in Ho.

Day 4

Akosombo

Wake up early to join in the family’s morning customs such as farming, cooking, etc.

Return to Akosombo in the late afternoon with brief stopovers at crafts shops dealing in kente, drum making and pottery. There is also a great chance of meeting palmwine (local wine) for sale along the route.

Spend the night at a riverside resort in Akosombo.

Day 5

Kumasi

Experience a boat trip along the Volta River towards the man-made dam. Set off for the Ashanti Region through the picturesque mountainous region of the Eastern Region. Visit the Kumasi Cultural Center for a cultural display performance.

Family home stay in Kumasi.

Day 6

Ashanti Region

Visit the Kejetia market with a member of the host family. It is the largest open market in West Africa.

Visit the craft villages of Bonwire (Kente) also to interact with locals to learn about the art and history of the craft.

Continue from there to Ntonso, a village famous for adinkra design. Learn the process of Adinkra printing from Master and also stamp chosen motives on t-shirts. Group will also learn traditional skills like kente weaving, palmwine tapping, farming, etc.

Spend the night at a Guesthouse in Kumasi.

Day 7

Kumasi – Techiman

Visit the Bobiri forest and Butterfly reserve, with a wide collection of birdlife. Spend the morning on the banks of Lake Bosomtwi, a crater lake believed to have been created by a fallen meteorite. A tour to the fishing villages that surrounds it reveals the cultural practices of the villages in the hinterland. Experience an optional canoe ride on the lake.

Note: It is a taboo to use power boats on the lake.

Continue trip to the Brong Ahafo Region.

Spend the night at a Guesthouse in Techiman.

Day 8

Brong Ahafo Region

Start the day with a visit to the Boabeng Fiema Monkey Sanctuary, where Mona and black and white colobus monkeys are considered to be a significant part of the community.

Visit the Tano Boase Rock formation, which exhibits a variety of huge beautiful hanging and hollow rocks. Explore the sacred groves and caves, where villagers sought refuge during slave raids and tribal wars. A hike along the trails to spot antelopes, baboons and monkeys.

Visit a eco-tourism based project of this small town. Return to Kumasi in the early afternoon.

Visit the Kumasi Cultural Center for a cultural performance.

Spend the night at a Guest house in Kumasi.

Day 9

Kumasi – Sekondi-Takoradi

Visit the Kejetia market and the world famous Black and White Power Shrine of the master priest Nana Abbas before setting off from Kumasi to Sekondi-Takoradi with numerous stops at villages along the route.

This trip will take approximately 7 hours. Continue trip to Dixcove.

Overnight stay at a beach resort in Dixcove.

Day 10

Western Region

Spend the morning turtle watching along the coast. Hike to the village of Akatekyi also visit Fort Antonio and Fredricksburg in Prince’s town.

In the afternoon, we set off for the Central Region.

Overnight stay at a Guest house in Cape Coast.

Day 11

Cape Coast & Elmina

Visit the Cape Coast and Elmina Castles, the best-preserved castles in Ghana and also declared as UNESCO World Heritage sites. Take an optional walk through the Elmina township and market to view some homes built in colonial style and also to experience the lifestyle of the Fantis. Make an optional visit to the Java museum.

Overnight stay at a Guest house in Cape Coast.

Day 12

Kakum National Park

Visit the Kakum National Park, which comprises of undisturbed virgin rainforest to experience a walking tour on the longest and highest canopy walkway in West Africa.

We make a brief stopover at the Hans Botel, a resort partly built on stilts on a river with crocodiles, lots of bird life and monkeys.

Return to Accra.

Overnight stay at a family run beach resort in Accra.

Day 13

Accra

Free morning for optional visits to the Makola market to experience the hassle and bustle of a typical Ghanaian market.

Also visit the Arts Center for National Culture, Wild Gecko handicrafts shop and the Artists Alliance Art Gallery.

Checkout of hotel for departure.
