This 9-day journey takes you through Ghana’s rich history, vibrant culture, and creative art scene. Start in Accra, where you’ll explore colorful markets, walk through historic Jamestown, and visit some of Ghana’s top art galleries. You’ll enjoy music, try your hand at crafts, and meet local artists.

Then travel to Kumasi, the heart of the Ashanti Kingdom. Visit royal sites, attend a traditional funeral (if available), and explore villages where locals make Kente cloth, Adinkra symbols, and wooden carvings.

Next, head to Elmina and Cape Coast, where you’ll walk through coastal towns, learn about Ghana’s past at historic castles, and take part in a batik workshop.

Throughout the trip, you’ll enjoy great food, warm hospitality, and unforgettable cultural experiences – a perfect tour for art lovers, culture seekers, and history enthusiasts.

Day 1

Arrival - Accra

11:20 arrival on ET. Guest will be met for a transfer to the hotel

Experience an afternoon walk through Jamestown, visit the James town Boutique and Dio Grazias, the oldest photo gallery in Ghana.

Also visit the Brazil House Museum.

Overnight stay in Accra (D)

Day 2

Accra

Early morning visit to the colourful Makola Market.

Continue with a stopover at Old Fadama (a.k.a. Agbogbloshie)

In the afternoon, visit the Artists Alliance Gallery for contemporary art.

Continue to Paa Joe’s fantasy coffin making shop.

End the day to Palmwine Music at the Zen Gardens.

Day 3

Accra

In the morning, visit the Wild Gecko Handicraft shop.

Continue to the Nubuke Foundation.

The Ada Art Gallery established by Adora Mba.

The Amba Gallery, a Pan-African art collection of Amadu Baba.

Day 4

Accra – Kumasi

Set off for Aburi to meet artisans at the woodcrafts village.

Continue to the ArtHaus of Kofi Setordji

Depart through Koforidua with a stopover at the bead market.

End the day in Kumasi

Day 5

Kumasi

Start the day with a visit to the Kejetia Market.

There is a great chance of witnessing an Ashanti funeral this morning.

Continue to the Ashanti traditional buildings

Then to the craft villages of Adanwomase for Kente, Ntonso for Adinkra and Ahwiaa for wood carvings.

End the day at the Kumasi Cultural Centre

Day 6

Kumasi – Elmina

Start the day with a visit to the Manhyia Palace Museum.

Depart for the Central Region with a stopover at Assin Manso, the location of a former Slave River

On arrival, visit the Cape Coast Castle.

Day 7

Elmina

Take a walk through the Elmina township including a visit to the fishing harbour, fish market and the St. Joseph Basilica. Also visit the Elmina Castle, another well-preserved Castle and slave dungeon built by the Portuguese in 1482. Continue to Global Mama’s for a batik workshop. End the day at the Konyo Art Gallery.

Elmina – Accra

Morning visit to the Kotokraba Market.

Return to Accra with a stopover at Anomabo, where we visit Fort William.

End the day with a visit to the Art Centre for National Culture

Accra - Departure

Morning visit to the Berj Art Gallery, where leading artists showcase their work.

Also visit the Gallery 57 at the Kempinski Hotel.

Also visit the open air art gallery of Nico Wayo.

Continue to the Nubuke Foundation for contemporary Arts.
