(Day 1) Lome – Kpalimé (130km)
In the early morning, we depart for Kpalime with a stopover at Mount Agou to trek through villages for a rewarding view of the mountain. Alternatively, we can embark on a 3-hour hike up to the mountain peak. Continue trip to Kpalime. On arrival, we visit the Tove village with a great chance to witness “Akpesse” folkdance in the real Ewe tradition. Overnight stay at Hotel Royal (or similar) in Kpalime.
(Day 2) Kpalimé – Kara (360km)
Early morning hike up Mt. Klouto for a butterfly safari through the forests, which overlooks nearby Ghana. Also observe nearby waterfalls and streams. Visit the craft centre to observe the designing of batik, macrame and ceramic. Depart northwards, crossing the Fault of Alédjo to Atakpamé where we visit the Blacksmiths Quarter and the Demadeli traditional soap producing village. Continue trip through Sokode, the second largest city in Togo to Kara. Overnight stay at the Hotel Kara*** (or similar), in Kara.
(Day 3) Kara – Tamberma (70km) – Sokode (140km)
Visit the Tamberma-Valley with its beautiful “Tata” (miniature fortified castles built with clay). Witness the way of life and a traditional dance of the Batammariba people. Depart for Sokode with a visit to the weavers of Bafilo, who are known for their traditional hand-crafted cloth and the village of Tcharé also reknown for pottery. In the night, we visit a nearby village to witness the fire dance. Overnight stay at the Hotel Central** (or similar) in Sokode (B).
(Day 4) Sokodé – Lomé (340km)
Start the day with a visit to the colourful Anie Market and the industrious Kotokoli women at the market. Overnight stay at Hotel Yabisso (or similar) Lome.
Day 5) Lomé – Departure
Start the day with a Lome city tour, which includes the Place de ‘Independence and the National Museum. Visit the Lomé central market, or Grand Marché, where pearls, baskets, pottery and sacred pieces are on display. Also stopover at the Akodesséwa fetishes market, where one can find magic remedies and local voodoo charms used by local sorcerers. Also visit the old colonial harbor in Lome harbor with gaily-painted boats. Check into airport for departure. No overnight stay.
