The annual voodoo festival in Ouidah offers a unique opportunity to experience mesmerizing voodoo practices, traditional and local beliefs and other festive events peculiar to this time of the year. 

It is celebrated by the Ashanti people, and Chiefs in Ashanti, as well as Ashanti diaspora. The festival is celebrated on a Sunday, once every six weeks. The celebration marks the seasons and the timing for various agricultural activities. The significance of the festival is for the commemoration of ancestors.

  Homowo is a harvest festival celebrated by the Ga people of Ghana in the Greater Accra Region. The festival starts in the month of August with the planting of crops (mainly maize and yam) before the rainy season starts. During the festival, they perform a dance called Kpanlogo.

Ghana's 65th anniversary of independence, as well as the 20th anniversary of the African Union, also fall in 2022, offering a greater opportunity for collaboration to move the continent and the world towards equality, development, and zero poverty.

The festival occurs on the first Saturday in May and the celebrations last all weekend.
